How Beautiful upon the mountains are the
feet of those who bring good news...
The Mighty One, God, the Lord speaks and summons the earth from the rising of the sun to the place where it sets" (Psalm 50:1-2). As it rises and sets over North Georgia and casts light on the beautiful foothills, it reminds us that Jesus is the True Light of the world (John 1:9). The red background represents the blood Jesus shed for our sins (1 John 1:7) and the cross on which He died symbolizes the price He paid for our salvation, which is through grace by our faith in Him (Ephesians 2:8). The word "unity" is highlighted because our church is one in the body of Christ, "standing fast in one spirit, with one mind, striving together for the faith of the Gospel" (Philippians 1:27). When the light shines through the cross it divides into three distinct beams which represent the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We put our faith and trust in the unchangeable, Triune God. Foothills Community Church desires to be a beacon of light to the community in which we live and serve by sharing the Gospel (Acts 1:8) and meeting the needs of the people (Deut. 15:11). Therefore, we chose this passage to guide us as we go: "How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who say to Zion, "Your God reigns!" (Isaiah 52:7).
