The Music Ministry at Foothills Community Church offers many wonderful opportunities to use the talents that God has given you. It doesn’t matter if you are retired, or you have children that are not even school age yet. There is always a place for you to be involved. Our Adult Choir sings most Sundays and presently boasts 32 members. Anyone from High School on up is welcome to come and join us. We practice on Sunday afternoons from 4:30 to 6:00. You do not need to have a musical background, you just need to be able to sing on pitch and we will take care of the rest. There are also choirs for children from preschool through 5th grade that meet during AWANA on Wednesday nights at 6:00 PM. They enjoy learning songs to sing in church, doing crafts, learning about music in scripture and playing different, interesting instruments. They will also have the joy of participating in a full scale children’s musical.
For those with a little more singing background, we also have Praise Teams that help lead the congregation in worship each Sunday. This is a tryout group and also requires regular attendance in the adult choir. We rehearse each Wednesday at 7:30 and Sunday mornings at 8:00. We also have a ladies ensemble and a Men’s Quartet that we like to utilize.
Instrumentalists are finding more chances to serve these days also. We have been using a Praise Band for our Sunday morning services and occasionally on Sunday evenings. The band is currently comprised of 2 keyboards, acoustic guitar, bass guitar, and drums. We are always looking to add new pieces so, if you play, let me know and we will find a place for you.
Although we call it the music ministry, we frequently use other forms of performing arts. We utilize skits to emphasize sermon points and also like to use choreography and dance to enhance the worship. The Lord has blessed us with wonderful talent to head these areas up and they are always looking for new members to use their talents to glorify the Lord.
As we begin the Fall season, it means it is time to prepare for our Christmas Choir Musical. This event involves beautiful new songs, narration and drama, as well as, great backdrops and sets that will help convey the story. We would be thrilled to have you come and be a part of this special event. The production is Sunday, Dec. 4th during our morning worship at 10:30.
I am also excited to inform you about our, first ever, Crusade from Nov. 13 through the 16th. As always, we will expect to hear wonderful preaching. But, we will also be having special music guests each night that will thrill your soul and give praise and honor to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Please, make plans to come and join us.
Needless to say, there is a lot going on at Foothills and you want to have your family here to grow in their relationship with Christ and in their worship to Him, as the Good News of Jesus Christ is the reason behind everything we do.
